Deer Creek Poster Process

Here's the progression of the Deer Creek artwork from concept to printed poster. Keep checking back, as this will be updated as the images come in from The Print Monkey. This one was inspired by the art of Frank Paul, and sci-fi pulp magazines of the 40's and 50's.

Finished image.

This was the first sketch.
Corn people.
At this point the layout started coming together.
Four of the separations.

Here's where things got tricky. Having never printed on dark paper before, there was a last minute (24 hours prior to printing) decision to make this one a 5 color, the fifth color being a white base coat. This would ensure the brightness of the colors I was going for.

Finished base coat.
